Very common - in the wild - they rarely stay in the same chamber (tunnels)
and all ways dig out new ones, thus making it harder for predators to find
them. In a cage, they move around a lot as part of instinct.

Subject: Moving habits
do gerbils always move their living space around? And
i thought this was odd i bought my gerbils a plastic
igaloo and they loved it. First they buried the whole
thing except for the entrance and they would hide in
there all the time. Now they wont go in but sleep on
top of it balled around each other like they were one.
As as far as one having babies nothing yet
.............i am kinda upset
