Hi I am not medicating my Gerbils at the moment.I don't have any
Ornayacycline but I have put something from the pet shop in the water bottles
of the sick ones, all they had was "loose stool remedy" for sick birds which
contains something called "liq.bismouth et ammon cit 8.3%" I bought it last
week( when 3 of my 5 week old pups died) and have only started them on it
last night.Could this "remedy" be harmful?
I am going to phone the vet first thing in the morning and ask her to give me
some antibiotic.I was quite surprised on my last visit actually as she did
not treat either of the Males and I told her I have lots more gerbils but she
did not prescribe anything for them.
Another question is, I keep Chinchillas, Degus and Dwarf Hamsters too, do I
need to medicate them as well? A couple of my hamsters have had ruffled coats
lately but I think that is because they always fight over the water bottle
and I have removed the "bullies" now so everything should be O.K now
hopefully.
I have now lost 12 Gerbils in the last fortnight!!!!
