Get Cricket to a vet, ASAP. If there is nothing to be done he or she can at least put
Cricket to sleep and end the pain. I just lost one of my gerbils, Prince, and I wish
I'd gone to the vet sooner. I thought he was just getting old and maybe his heart was
giving out, I didn't think anything could be done. When he finally got to the point
where I thought he was in pain I took him in, intending to have him put to sleep, only
to find out that there was possible treatment after all. It was congestive heart
failure, the vet gave him a shot and got us some medicine that should have given
Prince a good 6 months more of a good quality of life. But I waited too late, it was
too bad, and after trying the medicine for 2 days and watching him suffer, he finally
died. I feel horrible now. I finally had given up and was going to take him in and
have him put to sleep, but Nature intervened, mercifully. Everyone take a lesson from
my experience: don't EVER assume nothing can be d!
one. Go to an experienced vet even if you think they can't do anything. You never
know, and it's tragic to wait until it's too late.

I doubt I will post for awhile as I am very upset. :(
