Hi --
As you may recall Promise had a litter of three yesterday. I was
suspicious about there being more pups birthed because of some blood
splotches in the tissue paper and because Promise had been way too fat
to produce only three very small pups. Upon Deb R.'s suggestion, I
checked for body parts and made the grisly discovery of one dark paw in
one corner of the tank and the back half of a very small light colored
pup in the center of the tank.

I've never had experience with stillborns prior to this. When a pup is
stillborn, do you generally find it (whole) or just remains? Is this
more likely to be a case of cleaning up a stillborn or cannibalism? I
would be very, very interesting to hear what breeder have to say about
this. Thanks!

Donna
PS -- the other three pups are doing fine so far, but Promise is still
being pretty flighty and haphazard about sticking to the nest, so I'm
still worried about them.
