Hi Coriena.
A humidifier would be ok, for them and you too! It is possible that dry air
is the problem but not very likely. Their enclosure isn`t right over or next
to the heat duct is it? It could be getting too warm.
It really is more likely that it`s the bedding you`re using. Gerbs can do
fine on a certain bedding for a long time and then all of a sudden develop
an allergy to it. I know this because it happened to mine. They did ok on
aired-out pine for a year then they got sore noses. I switched them to a
corn cob base with aspen over the top and they have done great ever since!
Of course, a few gerbs are even allergic to aspen, so then you use something
like Carefresh bedding. You might want to try buying a small amount of the
new bedding and see if it clears their noses up, if not then there`s another
problem.
