The main reason I prefer using a dish is that I have more control over what they are eating. Sure, they bury some of the food anyway, but most of it stays in the dish. And although they will always eat the yummy stuff first, the rest of the food stays in the dish and eventually gets eaten too, so I know they get protein and not just fat. When the dish is almost empty, I put some more food. Economic *and* healthy :-)
Hello everyone...I just have a couple of quick questions regarding the feeding of my gerbils.

Right now I am using a hamster mix (bought from the store). I have been told that the mixture is too rich for gerbils, however since I have 4 gerbils in the same tank I figure that it will be divided evenly and shouldn't be a problem. Am I thinking about this the wrong way?

Also, I used to give my gerbils food in a bowl in the middle of the tank and they either dug all the food out of it or burried the bowl. Even since then I have just been dumping food into the tank and letting them scatter it and burry it as they please...I know they can find it when they're hungry. Is this a good idea or not?

Thanks,
Jason
