Unless the mother is older (like 8 months or more) AND has
had more than one litter; if the litter is eight that is plenty. Unless
the mother had more....
What are the circumstances that you have these six three day
old pups that need fostering?
Mother died? In which case they need to be put with another
female.
Not getting enough milk?
Original litter too big?
Mother turned on litter?
?
In fostering over I prefer to keep females between six and
eight pups unless she's older and experienced, then I
don't like more than 10. (which is very rare....)
It seems the larger the litter size, the more likely that any
that fall behind in growth rapidly lose out.
