Hello everyone,

I recently discovered this list and subscribed to it, and feel I should
introduce myself. My name is Jennifer, and between my sister and I
we've had gerbils for 8 years now, though not since our previous gerbil
passed away. We did not breed gerbils, but kept them as family pets who
were quite amusing and who each had their own little personalitites.
The information available on gerbil genetics now is quite fascinating,
much different from betta genetics (an anabantoid I breed).

Our favourite gerbils were probably tiptoes & smokey - a pair of sister
smokey black gerbils with white paws and incredibly glossy (shiny)
coats. These were probably the friendliest, most docile gerbils we ever
kept. They would talk to each other a lot, and thump out warning
signals with their feet to each other on occasion.

Muffy - an adorable female agouti gerbil whose territory included her
cage, toys, and anything she lay her paws on (including people). She
was slightly neurotic but quite wiley.

We live in Canada and Diana has decided she'd like another gerbil. Do
any of you breed in Ontario or northern New York? I'd be happy to
support a private breeder as opposed to the pet stores where we have
purchased them in the past - colour isn't of utmost importance, we'd
like a healthy female if possible.

-Jennifer
