Kinda OT: Gerbils & Budgies

I recently got a budgie, parakeet, whatever you wanna call 'em.
Anyway, I know of several people with cockateils and gerbils and
no problem. But I was just curious if 'keets and gerbils pose any
threat to each other? Can my budgie be let out around the gerbil
cages? Any answer would be appreciated. But it would probably be
best if you sent it privately to me, as I don't want to clutter
up everyone else's GML mail with OT posts.
