Please can someone help me. My gerbil Kevin has just (today) given
birth to four pups. Unfortunatly, my room is very cold due to the lack of
heat here at the moment. Has anyone tips or advice they could give me with
regards to keeping them warm?
    Thanks
    Nick

Take a light (those swing arm things or a clip on or some such,
even a table lamp) and move it so the light shines on the glass
of the tank (you have them in an aquarium?) on one side at
the corner, from a few inches away. This will make a 'warm corner'
in the tank.

If they are in a cage with bars, you have to be most careful that
you don't have the gerbils kick bedding onto the light or have
it too close so that it would cause burns or catch bedding
on fire.

That way there is a heat source, and the gerbils inside can
choose a place that is comfortable to them in relation to the
offered extra heat.

Is it possible to get permission to move the cage to a room
with more heat for the time being? After all, there are babies
to consider now...<g> [that ploy sometimes works even with
the most obstinate parent or roomie...]
