I forgot to add that all four of our gerbils, even though they were bought at pet stores, were donated to the pet stores by people/families who ended up with too many pups on their hands. The first two were bought with the assurance that "Their previous owners had little kids in the family, so they've been handled A LOT!" Now I wonder if that was a good thing or not....I remember how I used to handle the gerbils/mice/hamsters I had as a kid!
