One of our water bottles broke the other day. Until
we can get a new one, we've been switching the one
good water bottle back and forth between the two tanks
every 8 hours. The most adorable (well, to me!)
scenes take place once the bottle is put in the next
cage after being in the other for awhile.
Much scrabbling and squeaking ensues while the two
gerbs struggle for Rehydration Dominance. They'll
push each other down, sneak up on each other, anything
to get to the water first. Then they find a point of
equillibrium at which they can both drink at the same
time...usually in a very contorted position, one
clutching the other by the fur, eyes locked. Then
back to the nest for a post-guzzle groom.
Thank goodness we're going to PetSmart to get the new
water bottle tomorrow....this can't go on much
longer!!! :)
