Don't trust a six week old female with an experienced
male. (usual, daughter in with father) In the company
of such, the female can mature much faster. If the litter
is removed at 5-6 weeks old, a female will mature at
8-10 weeks.

And there are cases of males as young as six weeks
being able to do the deed as well. (I think Donna A
had a 9 week old male inpregnate his mother...of
recent happening and memory).

I consider any gerbil over six weeks as being sexually
mature, and I don't get surprised!
