The arm will most likely heal on its own. If you are concerned about his
size, you could supplement his feedings with hand feedings of KMR. In all
likelihood, he'll catch up to his siblings in time. I had a similar
situation with a small-ish pup and a broken leg- he did fine without any
intervention and is now bigger than his dad!

Subject: broken arm????
Date: Tuesday, March 06, 2001 9:50 AM
My 3 gerbil pups are now 11 days old and seem to be doing well. 2 of them
are fat and furry but 1 of them is not as well. He is a little bit smaller
then the others and isn't as furry. It's skin seems to be a little dry.
Also I think it has a broken arm. His left front arm is always in weird
positions like behind him. I can see him move the tips of his paw so that
is a good sign but he limps on this paw when he moves. Is there anything I
can/should do or just let nature take it's course. Like I said before, he
is a little smaller then his brothers but not significantly.
Thanks,
Sara Fisher
