Oh this reminded me, I had stated that I had just as many single males
as females, but I counted last night and that's completely untrue. I
have three single males and nine single females! All seem very happy by
themselves, with the possible exception of Stormy, who I haven't decided
what to do about yet ... I'd like to breed her eventually but I still
have so many adults, I'm not sure I'm prepared to do that yet. Until a
few weeks ago it was only seven lone females, but I had yet another
fight break out. I saw it coming as one of them was bullying the other
unmercifully. It got to the point where she was losing fur from her
tail and just plain looked miserable. Then it started looking violent
so I split them up. She's soooooo much happier, the fur is growing back
and she acts much better. If she or her cagemate starts to act lonely,
I might try to pair her with Stormy. I'm just so leery of introductions
anymore since I've had all these problems. :(
As far as the 4 1/2 week old males go ... no that's one thing I haven't
tried. I have so little room and they all seem so happy by themselves.
I really think this is a heriditary trait that I'll have to work on
breeding out. I mean, it's great that they love humans so much, but I'd
rather have them getting along with each other too! My youngest
generation is the worst about this. My older ones that are alone are
mainly that way because their cagemate died and they refused to accept
another.
