Allergies

Okay, here is yet another development in the gerbil saga. My wife of 5 weeks
decided to tell me her allergies and asthma are being worsened by the
presence of MY animals. Has anyone else had this problem? I am thinking about
trying a HEPA filter for the room where my little ones are kept but have no
experience with one of those contraptions.
She doesn't complain of the smell for I do keep them very clean and use
carefresh and aspen but claims she can't breathe when she enters the room.
Before I moved in I asked and asked and she said there wouldn't be a problem.
Anyway, I am just wondering if there is anything else other than or in
addition to a HEPA filter I can use? The other option of course is getting
rid of the animals but I can't let that happen. :o(
