It's normal. They're learning what Mom and Dad are eating,
and it's perfectly normal. Finding out what is ok to eat is very
important as they wean from milk to solid food.

Gerbils will gnaw ANYTHING they can...so that's not unusual
(them decimating water bottles). If you're feeding a good and
well balanced diet, then they shouldn't need any supplimental
vitamins or minerals.
