red eye

  Hi guys!!
    Ive got a dove gerbil with red eyes who seems to have his red mucus all
round them.  Its like his fur around his eye was stained red.  I just put
him in a new spot in my room,  could it be stress or an eye infection???  Do
you guys have any idea what it is or how to treat it??
