Further to Heather's question, can I also add on this:

Do the size of the bottle make any difference to its ability to feed out water?  Since 
gerbils drink so little, it seems to make sense that using the small size (ie. 4 oz) 
is fine.  But most starter kits and people use the large ones (8 oz) instead.  I'd 
rather use the small one so I don't have to dump as much water (even my plants don't 
need that much), but only if the size doesn't affect the water's ability to come out 
the nozzle.
