Basically, spend a lot of time with them, sometimes feeding them treats,
but sometimes just sitting with your hand in the cage/tank letting them
explore you.
I am working on an article for the American Gerbil Society website on
"gerbil manners" (don't nibble on your human and the like) - I've
noticed some posts asking about training, as soon as it's up I'll let
everybody know where to find it. Hopefully it won't be much longer.
