Always secure the top with clips. My big long haired white cat doesn't try to
get at the gerbies, but better safe than sorry. He used to sit on top of the
tanks as if to say "I'm on top of this food chain and don't you forget it". I
now have them on shelves so that he can't sit on the screen tops, as his
weight was concaving them. He seems to get jealous when I pay attention to
the gerbils and looks to get pet. Sometimes I get the feeling that he
actually enjoys watching the gerbils.
