I had a couple of friends tell me that one of the gerbils I gave them sunk its teeth
into the cat's
paw, probably because it was sick of the cat pawing at the cage! (they were in a wire
cage). They had
to rescue the cat from the gerbil! Cat never went near the gerbil cage again. So I'd
not use wire
cages with cats around either. :)
