I can't recall the name brand of the water bottle I use, but so far
it has worked out really well. The only place I've been able to find
it, with a straight spout, is of all places, PetSmart. They're only a
few ounces, but more than enough for a gerbil. And the best thing,
for me at least, is they don't hang, or require a wire meshed cage.
You just stick them on the side of the tank, at the height you
desire, and there's a little lever to secure it in place. Of course,
none of my gerbils are water bottle chewers, so these haven't been
thoroughly tested. But they don't leak, don't get stopped up, and
best of all they have a little green turtle inside, so you can tell
exactly how much water is left with one easy glance. I wish I could
remember the brand name though! Of course, these have a flat top, so
unless you're sticking in a 10 or 20 gallon tank, where the top of
the bottle would be REALLY close to the top of the cage, this may not
work for you. I have one in a 20.. and another in a 47 gal. I found
it hard to try and suspend a bottle 2 feet down the side of the tank.
[It's an odd shaped tank, cracked it during a move, so fish went out,
and after much cleaning, gerbils when in. :) ]
Good luck on your search.
