Cute gerbil story for a Monday morning... my little baby-sized adult male Percil (he got the shortness from me, his mum ;) ) is scared of the upper shelf in the birdcage which is their summer home. He loves to jump up, but down is a different story (of course, he hasn't figured out yet that if he does not jump up he won't have to worry about getting back down)
So this is what happened:
Last night I came down at 4 am and turned on the light, and on the very edge of the cardboard shelf a little grey ball of fluff was curled up, asleep, far from his nest and his girlfriend Kippy. He probably tried to jump and tried to jump again and finally fell asleep out of pure despair. Poor Percil! I opened the cage and scooped him up, and put him in his nest. He didn't even wake up! Just opened one eye, say he was safe, and went back to sleep. SOO CUTE!
