First off, here are some good links to bone up on your gerbil knowledge.

http://www.rodent.demon.co.uk/index.htm - LOTS of great info
http://home.wtal.de/ehr/gerbils/colors.htm - The color pallete, plus
their basic genetic code (for colors at least)
http://www.geocities.com/abcgerbils/mybreeding.html?957997338910 -
good breeding info... and general info.
http://netxp.com/rick/gerbils/genetics.html - find out what you can
get from a pairing

And lastly, and MOST importantly....

http://www.gerbils.co.uk/gerbils/gender.htm - how to sex your gerbils

It is possible that you have two females, and one is just displaying
its dominance over the other. This is true with many other animals,
including dogs. The actual sex act isn't involved, but the mounting
is. I'd say if you can obviously see that something more is going on
than just a simple mounting, you've got a male and female. :)

But of course, go check the above web page and do the check yourself.
Cuz if you have pups on the way, you might want to know how to sex
them as well! :P

I have a question on my gerbils.
This is my first time ownering gerbils, so I don't know much about their ways.
I bought them from a local pet shop, which i see is a mistake now.
The lady told me they were both females, so I thought they were.
I could have sworn I just saw them mating though.
Snickers (maybe a male?) was ontop of Stardust (female.)
He was licking(?) her on the neck/face and then ran off her.
He didn't check himself like I heard the list talk about.
Do all of them check them selves?
I saw them do this twice in the past 10 minutes,
now they are sleeping in their nest.
Which brings me too another question...

I bought them a nesting box big enough for both of them.
I put toliet paper in there for them to sleep on,
put they moved their nest behind the wheel in the corner.
Any idea why?

Thanks,
Kamber
