The NGS site has a guide to learning gerbil genetics which I recently
updated.

http://www.gerbils.co.uk/gerbils/applied.htm

As Donna says, if you know nothing about the gerbil's ancestry it is
almost impossible to make predictions, although you can eliminate some
possibilities.

As for shows, The NGS puts them on wherever we are able to find all four
of:

1) A venue
2) A person willing to act as show secretary, IE take entries and do the
paperwork
3) A judge
4) Enough exhibitors willing to show to make the expense of 1) and the
effort of 2) and 3) worthwhile.

The show secretary can exhibit at their own show, but you need several
other people to make the show large enough to pay for the venue and to
encourage a judge to travel to the show.

The NGS is always looking for people who can help fine suitable venues
and/or are willing to act as show secretary. If you can help. please let
me know.

Also please note that Foot and Mouth has severely affected the
activities of all small animal societies in the UK this year. Venues
have been withdrawn and many events have been cancelled. Even events
abroad have been impacted. The Annual Dutch Rodent Festival in June was
cancelled and the Belgian show held by Rodent was moved at the last
minute from the planned venue (which was a zoo).

Hopefully next year will be back to normal.

BTW, Tony, where in the SW are you?
