I was applying BioSpot to my cat today.  It came in a package of two tubes and two towelettes.  The Flea Halt! towelettes label reads "For cats, ferrets, rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, and gerbils.  Kills and repels fleas, ticks, lice, deer ticks, mites, and mosquitos."
Active ingredients:
pyrethrins   0.116%
piperonyl butoxide   1.161%
N-Octyl bicyloheptene dicarboximide   0.387%

It is made by Farnam.  I bought mine through the Jeffers Pet Catalog.  Their web address is:

I usually apply both, one tube of BioSpot and wipe with the Flea Halt! towelette, when I treat my cats.  Maybe next time I will just use the BioSpot for the cats and save the Flea Halt! towelette for the gerbils should they ever need them.

The questions I have are:  Are these really safe for gerbils?  Would it be okay to let the gerbils shred the towelette after it has been used and it has dried and evaporated?  Would there be residual medication on it that the gerbils might ingest?  Would it be any different than If they had been treated and then groomed themselves?  Would there be enough medication on the shredded towelette to be an effective repellant/preventative in the bedding?
