Okay amy, hi this is Rachel! Get her to a vet very soon! Is she lethargic and slow? Is her coat rumpled/sticking out different ways? Is she cold to the touch and seems stiff?
This has happened to two of my gerbs before and I had no idea what it was. They had all of those symptoms and seemed to wave back and forth unsteady on my hand. I took them aside and but them in a box with a heating pad underneath (be sure to put a towel between the cardboard/box/plastic and heating pad. Also, i "hand made" a nest of toilet paper seeign they were in no condition to make one themselves. I set food (including fruit and veggies) and water in the box just in case they had an appetite, but I hand fed them sugar water in a syringe for about three days. Okay, it lasted about four days and now the females are perfectly fine (one has had two litters since that sickness) You might want to try this but keep a close eye on her (I had kept my sick gerbies next to my bed and they were moved to different rooms i was in) If she gets worse I would say take her to the vet ASAP. I'm so sorry she's sick! i hope this helps. PS. Splitting her up from Juan might not be the best idea, they will be hard to introduce againif she is sick long, I would keep them together in the makeshift "gerbie hospital". Or if she stays overnight at a vet. -Rachel Wall >From: Amy Gray <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> >Reply-To: Amy Gray <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> >To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] >Subject: HELP!!!! >Date: Fri, 19 Oct 2001 21:50:42 -0500 > >Dear List, > I used to write a lot more about a year or two ago, but I've lately >stopped and I haven't written for a very long time...but i am in need of >help. > My pair of gerbils (Aveda and juan) are about 3 years old.
