preparing for the next litter

Has anyone tried out that heating pad thing they sell at the pet stores
(Petco)?  I'm wondering if it might help prevent the babies from getting
the respiratory infection.  Also, it might be useful this time becuase
the mom will be bringing up the babies on her own.
