This is a copy and paste of a message from a Yahoo Gerbil Club:
"My gerbils just had babies about a week ago.. I wanted to start to hand-tame them, and my gerby parents are very good, so they didn't mind me doing so. Well.. I was holding one and it squirmed right out of my hand... onto the concrete basement floor!!! I quickly picked it up and put it back in the cage.. yesterday I noticed one of the babies had a red spot(like blood under the skin) on it's head... I'm assuming that's the one I dropped. Does anyone have any info to offer?"
This is part of my reply to the person who wrote it... I wish someone had told you that at around two weeks the babies turn into little rockets and can shoot right out of your hands. Don't feel too bad though, this happened to me about ten years ago when I first started keeping gerbils.[though it was on carpet, and the gerbil unharmed] It's not your fault you did not know. I need to put this info on my gerbil website immediately. I think it would be a great idea for others with websites to do so as well. (If they have not already) What does everybody think? Jade
