Hello, I'm slightly worried about my female gerbil Tilda. Maybe two days ago I noticed that some of the hair just in front of her left eye for a bit fluffy, i.e. "standing up" and not going along her skin like the rest of the hair in her face. The area is about two millimeters times one millimeter, so very small. This evening I took a very close look at the spot and noticed that I can see something red in the place where the hair is slightly up and it seems that she has dropped a few hairs from that spot. I can see her skin in that place and it is pinkish red. It didn't seem to hurt her when I slightly moved the hairs in that spot to see it better and she has been her usual self when it comes to eating and playing around and being curious as ever. I have never seen her scratch that place either. Do any of you have any idea what might be causing that? Is it serious or contagious (she has a tankmate, that's why I'm asking)? Any help is greatly appreciated!
