Hello List, I'm back. I follow this list either as a subscriber or when time is short, I follow the list on the archive. Briefly, I have four wonderful male gerbils. Our first, named C.J., was adopted from my son's sixth grade class and our other three, named Big Guy, Spotty, and Little Guy, were bought from the Piney Woods Gerbil Clan. C.J. is two and a half years old, the other three gerbils are brothers and they are one and a half years old. Yesterday, Little Guy seemed to have suffered a stroke. He had a severe cant to his right side and could hardly walk. He isolated himself from C.J., in a corner, but did drink the water I offered him and ate seeds and some bits of a carrot. As the evening progressed he seemed to get better and stronger. C.J. moved over to the corner to keep him warm in that loving and caring way that some gerbils express so well. Five hours later, Little Guy was up drinking from his water bottle unassisted, eating well, playing with toys, attacking a cardboard cylinder as if nothing ever happened..! Today, his head still has a slight cant to the right, but otherwise, he seems just fine. My question is: What now? Should I have a vet check him out thoroughly? I am so thankful that he has seemly recovered I want to do everything possible so that this heart rendering event doesn't repeat itself again. Thank you for any insight, you, the members of this list, may have to offer.
