All I can say about this is that we took Sam to the
vet last night to have his stitches removed and my
husband scruffed him while the vet removed the
stitches.  Sam stayed very docile through the
procedure except when one of the stitches pulled a bit
and he jerked and tried to get away.  It doesn't seem
to hurt him at all.
