Ferrets?

Does anyone have ferrets on the list? Some friends of ours are trying to get rid of it because they are getting a puppy. They said that we could have it cage and all. we are still trying to decide if we want it. If anyone has any advice it would be appreciated. Of course I could never get rid of my cute little gerbils.
