They can hide everywhere and get through a crack less than an inch, I
swear! (well, maybe more than that, but not much). I caught a
particularly tricky one once using the gerbil's natural curiosity and
hunger. Igot a deep bucket (like a 5-gallon pail) and put some litter in
the bottom for padding. then I scattered sunflower seeds on the
litter. Next I took the hose to the vacuum cleaner and attached it just
over the edge of the bucket with duct tape. then I stretched the hose out
on the floor and put a few seeds around it and inside it. then I shut the
door and went to bed. the next morning the sweetie was in the
bucket! Of course, this assumes that the gerbil is still in the
apartment. But it is worth a try.
