We just rescued a gerbil who is a one and a half year old female. After reading up on them, we found that she may want a roommate. We picked up a male that is probably 4 months old or so. They don't fight, but when he is in the same part of the "condo", she hides in her wheel or somewhere else. They groom each other with him on the outside and her in, but I want to know if she is scared or just shy. Any help will be appreciated.
