Hi Sharon! I have the Habbittrail space themed setup that I've been buying add-ons to make it bigger (it's very small-even for only 2 gerbils). I just got a tube for them that I placed vertical and found they wouldn't climb it. Then I placed it at less of an incline (around 60 degrees and leaning on the back wall with an attachment on top) and they climb it now-especially when I put alf-alfa at the top. Getting down scared me at first because it was too steep (I started at 70 degrees)-unable to stop themselves, they would slide nose first down the tube. Since I decreased the incline, though, they seem to be able to climb down (there's grooves inside for climbing). Maybe you can put it straight in the air in a month once there muscles and dexterity have adjusted.
