sounds like a good idea with a release. But maybe try to resolve the
auto magic problem first? The auto magic feels like a moving target...

There also seems to be reports on Ubuntu 11.10 having problems linking.
I have not tested since I don't have a 11.10 machine, just seen some
reports floating by.
