It should be easy for them to put some information up on their website but not everyone does that. Gerber and Excellon formats were developed for controlling machines and not for transferring CAD data. The same is probably true of XYRS data. There are better standards and methods but they are not universally supported and not supported at all by lower end CAD software. I bet the same issues apply in other industries.
