As implied in Roger Rabbit's reply, this advice is now redundant.
Homebrew now uses clang as it's default (following Xcode), so ignore the
above. I had clang set as a permanent default, so never noticed the switch.
Sorry, that should have read "(following Xcode 4.3)". That will cover
new users like the OP, but users with earlier Xcode 4 releases will
likely need the --use-clang option
