Not quite.  See below.

What I got was some radio shows, some TV shows *and* some subtitle
files...but of zero size and without file extensions. Presumably these
are unavailable shows which still have metadata. Is this a bug in GiP,

For some searches I was using --force, if that helps.

--skipdeleted has a fairly specialised function.  From the man page:

--skipdeleted
Skip the download of metadata/thumbs/subs if the media file no longer exists. Use with --history & --metadataonly/subsonly/thumbonly.

Without seeing your commands and output I can only guess, but it sounds like you were trying to use --skipdeleted with a normal search and download. In that case, --skipdeleted shouldn't have any effect, but again, without seeing your commands and output it's impossible to say what happened.
