Hello, I have also experienced the recent connection problem, which started a few days ago. I use the Windows installation package - which has been really great for me. As suggested elsewhere on this mailing list I updated the perl file (get_iplayer.pl, 355kb) by downloading from github, and backed up the original before replacing it. But I still get a connection problem, as follows...

So the issue is... "ERROR: RTMP_Connect0, failed to connect socket. 10060 (Unknown error)" ??? I get this result for all programmes and at all requested resolutions. I am outside the UK but subscribe to a UK VPN. Normally "get_iplayer" doesn't even try to make a connection if I am not using the VPN - presumably because iPlayer rejects my IP address. But I seem to get further than that stage. So I don't think it's anything to do with the VPN. Everything has been fine for over a year, maybe two years - until a few days ago. Something happened.
