I get this result for all programmes and at all requested resolutions.
I am outside the UK but subscribe to a UK VPN. Normally "get_iplayer"
doesn't even try to make a connection if I am not using the VPN -
presumably because iPlayer rejects my IP address. But I seem to get
further than that stage. So I don't think it's anything to do with the
VPN. Everything has been fine for over a year, maybe two years - until
a few days ago. Something happened. Any ideas?
That often means your VPN is blocking TCP port 1935, used for RTMP,
i.e., Flash media streaming. Go to this page while connected through
your VPN and see if port 1935 is open:
