I have now tried the latest install on another machine and it works perfectly!
What I have noticed though, is that after a complete uninstall of all files from c:\Program Files (x86)\get_iplayer\ including nuking the directory AND all files from c:\Users\me\.get_iplayer and then doing a re-install, that my list of channels to ignore is still there ..
