Hello

First off, thanks to all those keeping get_iplayer running! I hadn't been able
to get it working on my new Win8 laptop since November, but with the new
installation file it's been running ok since this weekend. After the demise of
Radio Downloader, I've also been using it for radio.

My current problem may be caused by Windows rather than get_iplayer itself.
get_iplayer was working fine yesterday, but this morning Windows updated
itself, then the battery ran out - laptop wasn't plugged in. Since then,
although other programs (Firefox etc) seem to work ok, get_iplayer (both
command line and Web PVR), don't, instead giving the error message:

"The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000142). Click OK to close
the application."

I've tried reinstalling get_iplayer, doing a System Restore to before the
update and shutdown, and ran both sfc/scannow from the Command Prompt and a C:
drive Error scan:

"Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files and successfully repaired
them. Details are included in the CBS.log etc"

get_player still doesn't work. I could reinstall the whole Windows (my laptop
is a Samsung, and has a way of doing that without losing my documents), but
that's a last resort.

I know the cause of this problem seems to be a Windows gremlin rather than
get_iplayer, but if anybody has any other ideas for a solution, please let me
know.

Thanks!

Alex
