I had the same problem and got the following reply from DP which worked

For your examples, which are recent enough to be in the cache, this
hack might work with 2.90:
get_iplayer --pid b04plqm3 --versions default2
Note the "2" appended to the version name. This doesn't work for
programmes not in the cache, however.

the hd versions are available to watch on iplayer, but I can't seem to
get them via GIP - though the results shows download fine using the PVR.
