I am working Mac 10.4.4 but I needed to compile into classic 9.22 for
someone. I tried both classic and hybrid X/9, but in both cases, when it was copied to the Mac running system 9, it would not open as an application. Instead, the mac os treated it like a document , and gave a list of applications to open it
with. Is there some trick or is this a bug in the compiler?

RB 2005/2006 is getting odd with MacOS 9. For classic, I keep on RB 5.5.
If you want to change your "document" into an "application", change the document's macType to "APPL". You may also restore the creator code, if RB 2005/2006 is modifying both the MacType and MacCreator. You can even make an utility which modify file's type to "APPL" to any file dropped on it.
