Hummmm,

Then with that in mind I will go back and look at my code again and see if I
can figure it out. I have the SAVE function completed for it as it saves
only in the BMP image as RealSoftware wants it to be done so all platforms
can use it.

So then I should be able to open a pict image and put is into a 'backdrop'
of the canvas then? I even went as far as just creating a new project just
to try and see if i could open pict image in a canvas1.backdrop but it did
not so I am not sure what I am doing wrong.

Oh, I am doing this in RB555 Pro on a Win XP system. Even though I now use
RB2005r4 Pro Win XP, the program was first created in RB555 Pro so I am
trying to fix it in there as well.

Does RB2005r4 make a difference as viewing pict images over the older RB555 Pro?

Thanks

Jonathon

WOW! all that to just show a PICT image on a Windows system?

Thanks for all your help as I had someone tell me that my MaskIt! program did not read PICT files in Windows, and he's right. So I thought I find out why. I have QuickTime installed and if you click on the PICT file, QT will
open it but it will not in my application.

I found out that one can COPY the image in QuickTime then open MS Paint and
paste it in there and then Save As... BMP or JPG.

I wanted it to do it in my app but I am not sure if it is possible.

Thanks still for all your help,

Sure, but its not that much! The code I posted does more than just open a pict - it will scale and center (there a bit more for the centering vectors)
vector or bitmap picts into a canvas. I think you were pretty close with
your code actually, I was just trying to show you how I was doing it so youd
have something to compare to.

You can have your users do the copy and resave as bmp bit, of course. With
a little work, I bet you could have working the way you want though.

As long as all is well...

Glad I could help a little,

-seanA
