Thanks for the suggestion, (which I guess was passed along from Joe Strout originally) - of double buffering the stringshape so it doesn't print all black. It works! So thats good. However, its super pixelatted - with giant pebble pixels. I hope they will fix that in the future so it looks a bit more professional. I am replacing something that used to be done in Excel, and its prints sideways with full resolution and looks great.
