Relevant quoting is important to the understanding of your message. Simple top posting without deleting any quotes below has made some messages grow from 3 KB to 15 KB throughout the life of the thread.

It's so easy to do but it's also easy to avoid with little effort.

Think of it this way. If you had to re-type the message quote manually, wouldn't you only include the important part(s)?
